Vice Ganda

Vice Ganda has always been vocal about his penchant for basketball players. Since he is often spotted watching the PBA games of Phoenix Fuelmasters’ cager, Calvin Abueva, the two should make a movie, entitled “Ganda and the Beast” (Calvin’s PBA moniker).

Ara Mina is on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. I wish I could do the same so I can go soul-searching—or soulmate-searching.

Paolo Bediones and Lara Morena’s relationship is rock-solid. They were so sweet during our Ozamiz trip. The couple’s bar, Punta (on Shaw blvd.), is as cool as they are.

Last Oct. 1, France mourned the loss of one of its most acclaimed singers and composers. Known to the English-speaking world as the Frank Sinatra of France, Charles Aznavour’s musical career took off at a global scale in 1946, where his talent for singing and songwriting was discovered by Edith Piaf.

Aznavour is remembered fondly for the poetry in the lyrics of his songs, his unique vibrato and his rich storytelling of emotions and magnetic stage presence.

Turning 60 is a milestone, but it is not only for this but more for her achievements that Shirley Halili-Cruz was accorded a fabulous celebration, first at the Meralco Theater, where beautifully choreographed dance numbers were presented, then at the grand Marquis Events place, where the dinner reception was held.

Various groups from all over the country which received tutelage from the Halili-Cruz School of Ballet, of which she is founder and artistic director, performed tribute dances for her.

Shirley is the chairman of the National Committee on Dance of the National Committee of Culture and the Arts. She is also the founder and overall director of the Sayaw Pinoy Touring Concert and the Dance Exchange-Philippine International Dance Festival. Truly a woman of substance and grace.
