American singer-songwriter Lauv, who’s known for his slick, indie love tunes that meld dreamy electronic tones, head-bopping percussive beats and achingly sweet vocals, is set to return to the Philippines and perform at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on May 20, 2019 and at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City on May 21.
The concerts, mounted by local promoter Ovation Productions, are part of Lauv’s Asian tour next year. In his previous visits to the country, he held a number of mall gigs in 2017, then joined the lineup of the Wanderland music festival 2018 (call 9115555 or 4702222).
The 24-year-old artist, whose real name is Ari Straprans Leff, is behind the hits “Paris in the Rain” and “I Like Me Better,” which has so far notched more than 545 million streams on Spotify. His entire discography, meanwhile, has amassed over a billions streams worldwide.
Lauv’s latest song, the beat ballad “There’s No Way,” is a duet with Julia Michaels, who has written songs for the likes of Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony and Selena Gomez. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
