Kim Atienza says stroke is ‘one of the best things’ that happened to him

“The stroke turned out to be one of the best things that happened to me,” Kapamilya television host Kim Atienza said on Tuesday in an Instagram post.

He recounted his operation eight years ago where a metal occluder the size of a five peso coin was placed to seal a hole in his heart.

“It made me become a better father and husband, an athlete, a marathoner and an Ironman. I found out the things that really matter,” the “It’s Showtime” host said.

Three years after his stroke in 2010, he suffered from Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) which Atienza assured “turned out to be better.”

GBS is a rare autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks healthy cells in the peripheral nervous system.

“I discovered Jesus and accepted Him as Lord and savior but that’s a longer more exciting story,” he added.

Atienza clarified last March that his GBS was already healed in 2013.

He, then, thanked his wife Felicia Atienza and children Jose, Eliana and Emman for being there for him all the time.  /muf
