Young hip-hop artists have a “new way” to expose their music to a wider reach by sharing their sample tracks on Instagram, the Recording Academy said.

In a news release issued on Nov. 8, the Recording Academy said young musicians turned to Instagram because it is an innovative way to share their music to fans.

“The way music fans consume music has radically changed over the past decade or so, and as younger artists enter the music world, they continue to shift the playing field, finding new and innovative ways to spread their sound and reach new fans,” it said.

Artist Tierra Whack released her songs of her album, “Whack World,” in her official Instagram account.

Another young artist, Jaden Smith, also shared on Instagram a remix version of the songs from his 2017 album, “Syre.”

Recording Academy said the technique of using Instagram would attract the attention of music lovers due to eye-catching album covers shared by artists.

“Visiting either artists’ Instagram page and seeing the video thumbnails form the album cover is intriguing enough to click to listen—in this day and age, with more content from more sources and quicker scrolling from consumers, it feels important to find new ways to catch the attention of peoples’ eyes and ears,” it said. /jpv
