Newly engaged couple Mica Javier and Jay R look and sound good together. Coolness is in everything they do.

For them, marriage will definitely be as smooth as their forte, R&B. Whatever life’s twists and turns may be, Mica and Jay R will “duet” together.

Here’s my chat with Mica (M) and Jay R (J):

What excites and scares you about marriage?

J: I’m excited about all that my partner and I will build.  She fills in so many gaps—things that I lack—which makes us such a great team.

M: I really just feel at ease and excited for what’s to come for us. Like Jay R said, we have bucket lists of dreams and we can’t wait to make them all happen together.

What made you realize that Jay R is the one?

M: There were always significant moments throughout our more than five years together that built up to leave their marks on my heart and my spirit, but I think what really solidified the idea that Jay R is the one, was when I finally took the leap of faith to move in with him.

It only confirmed what I already had in my mind about him and our relationship.

Please share some of  your wedding plans.

M: So far, all we have in mind is the year 2020.

What’s the craziest thing  that you’ve done together?

J: Jump off a mountain in Antipolo with a parachute and land in a field two inches away from carabao s**t.

How has Jay R redefined love for you?

M: I learned so much from him that applies not only to us as a couple but to others as well—compassion, patience, understanding, forgiveness, selflessness …

Is there anything about him that you want to change?

M: (Laughs) He always forgets his passport or wallet. He’s really bad at directions.

Tell us about your music collaboration.

J: Collaborating in music is what brought Mica and I together … I heard all the great music she was doing and I immediately wanted to team up with her. And the result is a No. 1 song on the radio called “Tonight.”

We even shot the video in LA and won awards for it. Such a fun time.

M: That was the start of so many amazing musical and career milestones for me, and our relationship! Music is what truly bonds us.

How do you and Jay R handle jealousy attacks and misunderstandings?

J: Jealousy is a complicated battle. Every day, there is something new, especially with her bright future as an actress. But I have complete trust in my fiancée  and I will always be here to support her.

I am her biggest fan and would love to see all her wishes and dreams come true.

M: Communication! I’m so thankful we have that on lock, because that’s what keeps us both grounded and balanced throughout any misunderstandings or challenges. We can talk about anything like mature adults.

What don’t people know about Jay R?

J: Im left-handed. I dont like wasting toilet paper, paper bags, water, electricity and much more. In short, I’m eco-friendly. I never used to like cats, but now I love one.

How would  you handle a girl flirting with him?

M: Laugh, and be entertained by the fact that they can try but they’ve got nothing on me.

What are some of the things on your bucket list as a couple?

J: Travel the world, buy a house in Los Angeles, conceive a musical entrepreneur genius.

M: Work on significant international projects for music and acting, diversify our business portfolio, be really fit and healthy until we are old and gray, raise some awesome children.

What song best describes your love story?

J: “Parachute,” the first song I made for Mica from my “Elevated” album.

M: “Sa Iyong Mga Mata,” off my “Dreamer” album. It’s a song that was inspired by Jay R.
