“You’ve come a long way. Thanks for finally choosing to love yourself.”
This was award-winning teen star Therese Malvar’s note to herself after she celebrated her 18th birthday with a lavish party organized by her home network GMA 7 last Nov. 3.
“I’m a legal guardian now!” she told her parents in capital letters on her Facebook post, where she also thanked family members and friends who made the event possible.
Asked what she meant by being a “legal guardian,” her mom, actress Cherry Alcala-Malvar, explained to Inquirer: “Joke lang daw po n’ya sa barkada n’ya kasi siya ang pinakamatanda sa group nila. So parang tagabantay siya.”
Therese also thanked her mom, who worked tirelessly on the party. “I appreciate your hard work. You get so stressed even when you shouldn’t. I hope you enjoyed the night. You deserve it.”
Therese’s birthday is actually Sept. 16, but her celebration was pushed back because of prior commitments, she told the Inquirer.
Her debut, held at the Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City, carried a “celestial” theme.
