An Instagram influencer was sued on Tuesday, Oct. 30, for allegedly failing to promote Snapchat’s camera sunglasses Snap Spectacles.
Luka Sabbat has lately been known as Kourtney Kardashian’s latest fling. Even before her, he was in the fashion scene: his father was a designer and his mom a stylist for John Galliano and Dior, earning him front-row seats to fashion shows as a toddler, he revealed to W Magazine in 2015.
At 15, he was scouted as a model on the streets of New York, reported E! Online last Oct. 9. He also stars in the sitcom “Grown-ish.” Now 20, the influencer has 1.4 million followers on Instagram.
With his clout, public relations agency PR Consulting hired Sabbat to post three Instagram Stories and one Instagram post wearing the spectacles for the sum of $60,000 (P3.17 million), reported Variety on Oct. 30. Two of the Story posts had to be in New York and related to New York Fashion Week, while one had to be in Milan or Paris, also related to the Fashion Weeks in those cities.
The agreement was signed on Sept. 15, just a day after he was first photographed out with Kardashian.
But since then, Sabbat has allegedly only posted one Instagram Story and has uploaded only one Instagram post, which was not submitted for pre-approval. The post was uploaded Sept. 6 and is a series of five photos.
Sabbat allegedly received an initial payment of $45,000. Now, the firm wants the money back, along with $45,000 in damages, according to the lawsuit filed at the New York Supreme Court.
Based on his social media profiles, Sabbat hasn’t made anything of the legal debacle. He was spotted last Sunday out with Kardashian again, as per Just Jared on Nov. 5, this time at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ party. Niña V. Guno /ra
