Lolit Solis describes Imee Marcos, MTRCB chair Rachel Arenas as ‘ladies of substance, strength’

For Lolit Solis November marks the birthdays of many women leaders she admires, including Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos and Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chair Rachel Arenas.

Solis took to social media recently to praise Marcos and Arenas, calling them “ladies of substance and strength” for their modern approach in governance.

“Talagang ang vision for progress straight ahead,” Solis wrote on Instagram on Monday, Nov. 6. “Hanga ako sa pagiging babae na moderno nila Imee at Rachel.”

Solis in the past showed a bit of partiality for women leaders. Back in October, Solis said that a woman’s touch is still different from a man’s when she shared her opinion on Makati mayor Abby Binay and Junjun Binay, both of whom would be going head to head in the 2019 elections.

When it came to Marcos and Arenas, Solis said that she admires how modern and “in” the two are, so much so that they feel at home when talking to reporters.

“Pati language ‘in’ at talagang sabi nga ‘baklang-bakla’ alam nila. No wonder pag kausap sila ng mga showbiz reporter at home na at home sila.”

For Solis, she believes the two are the kind of women who should be holding government positions.

“Mga katulad nila ang dapat nasa government office dahil progressive ang vision nila,” she said. “Hay naku, kainggit kasama nila sa trabaho, ang dami sigurong natututunan sa kanilang dalawa…”

It’s not unusual for Solis to openly show her admiration and support for certain politicians and government leaders.

In the past, she made her grief known over former senator Bong Revilla, who is detained in connection with his alleged involvement in the P10-billion pork barrel fund scam. It was in September that Solis lamented how Revilla’s name and life have been destroyed in the past four years and praised his strength of character.  /ra
