(Updated) Actor Nonong De Andres, popularly known as “Bangkay,” has taken his final bow with his passing Tuesday morning. He was 71.
De Andres’ death was announced in a Facebook post by his nephew Powie Capino.
“Please pray for the eternal repose of the soul of my Tito Nonong who passed away early this morning,” Capino wrote.
Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, Quezon police director, said in a report that Larry Liwanag, caretaker of the Tumagay Beach Resort in Barangay Tumagay, found De Andres’ body inside one of the cottages around 4:30 a.m.
Liwanag immediately reported it to the authorities.
Senior Insp. Rodel Fortunado, Plaridel police chief, said that based on their investigation, there was no foul play, but the victim’s body would still be subjected to an autopsy.
Known as “Bangkay” in horror movies, De Andres was also in drama series “Forevermore,” “Bagani,” “Alyas Robin Hood,” among others.
