MANILA, Philippines—TV host Grace Lee wants journalist Ellen Tordesillas to “formally apologize to the public” for a report that appeared on Monday in the Inquirer quoting Lee as having said that she hoped her relationship with President Benigno Aquino III would go “the full length.”
In her tweet @gracelee899, Lee described the article as “very false n vile.” The tweet was posted at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
In an earlier tweet, Lee said the article titled “Grace Lee sees herself marrying P-Noy” was a “lie.”
Later in the afternoon, Lee tagged @dziq990 in yet another tweet, saying, “I’m deeply offended that a journalist like Ellen Tordesillas would write an article of lies to sensationalize one’s private life. I never said anything remotely close to what her write-up says I did.”
Lee also asked Tordesillas to identify the source “who claims to have spoken to me regarding the PSG (Presidential Security Group) issue as this is not to be taken lightly.”
In the story, Tordesillas reported that Lee revealed that the President had offered to provide her with a security detail from the PSG.
Lee followed up the tirades with a light-hearted tweet at about 3 p.m. which said: “Ok enough na…. can’t let this affect me the whole day. natatalo positivity ko! let’s cook! haven’t eaten whole day.”
Lee also on Monday sent a text message to Tordesillas informing the Vera Files reporter that it was her coanchor, DJ Suzy, and not herself who had said that the relationship between Lee and Mr. Aquino was headed for the altar.
Lee made the clarification in reaction to the Vera Files story that said she saw herself tying the knot with the President.
In her text message, Lee said, “The only points about your article I want to clarify is that I never uttered the words ‘altar’ or anything that might hint to desiring marriage.”
Lee later said in a phone interview with Tordesillas that the talk of she and the President ending up at the altar was part of the banter between hosts of the program, “Good Times in the Morning” which airs over FM radio station 89.9.
Lee said it was Suzy who replied, “the full length” when asked by New York-based DJ Mo Twister how long the relationship would last.
She also clarified that she did not say “I’m praying for this,” in referring to her relationship with Mr. Aquino. “What I said is that I pray everything will go well,” she said.
