Kelsey Merritt has received love from many a Filipino after being tapped to get her angel wings for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this year.
The Filipino-American model has also gained a fan — or perhaps, a friend — in “The Vampire Diaries” actress Nina Dobrev.
Dobrev, 29, had motivating words for Merritt, as seen in an Instagram post where she shared a selfie of them yesterday, Nov. 3.

The women are seen barefaced, with Dobrev in a hoodie and Merritt in a grey sports bra and matching leggings.
“So proud of this girl. First time walking in the #VSFashionShow this week,” she said. “She’s gonna kill it!!!”
Both she and Merritt work out at the same gym in New York called Dogpound. It seems the two women had the chance to bond since both posted selfies together in their Instagram Stories.

Merritt also posted a photo of New York City and said that she learned of a new photo app from Dobrev herself.

Merritt is said to be the first Filipino to walk the Victoria’s Secret runway. She began modeling for the brand last May, starting with the athletic wear Victoria Sport.
Beauty queen Janine Tugonon is known as the first Filipino model featured in a VS campaign, particularly for the brand PINK.
The VS Fashion Show will be held this year in New York and will air in American network ABC on Dec. 2. JB
