Lea Salonga pens FB message to late PDI writer Bayani San Diego Jr.

Singer Lea Salonga bid her goodbye via Facebook to the late Bayani San Diego Jr., Philippine Daily Inquirer entertainment section writing editor, on Wednesday.

“My dearest Bayani, for your mentoring and humor, thank you,” Salonga said in a Facebook post.

Despite not knowing where she’ll bounce her “Backstory ideas from here and out,” Salonga assured San Diego she’ll keep on writing because he was among the people who believed she could.

Salonga writes for Inquirer Entertainment’s column “Backstory.”

“I shall miss you very much. Rest in Peace. May utang pa akong article na pinag-usapan natin. Tatapusin ko talaga, alang-alang sa iyo,” she added.

San Diego attended Salonga’s 40th year anniversary concert last Friday, Oct. 19.

He posted a photo of himself with the singer via his Instagram account and said: “Finally, my Queen series of photos is complete. Thanks, @msleasalonga. Loved last night’s show.”

San Diego passed away on Wednesday. His sister Sonia said she was trying to wake the writer up, but could not be roused from his sleep.

San Diego was brought to Perpetual Help Hospital in Las Piñas to no avail. He was 48. /atm
