Heart Evangelista, Chiz Escudero’s ‘Adulting 101’ video surpasses 1 M views

Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero and his wife Heart Evangelista’s YouTube video on “adulting” has surpassed one million views.

The vlog posted on Evangelista’s YouTube channel on October 13 quickly caught the attention of netizens, garnering over 3.6 million views on a Facebook repost by Raven Jhey De Guzman, as of this writing.

The politician shared to the young generation his advice on matters relating to career, finances, and even love.

On choosing what path and career to take, the senator did not sugarcoat his answer and frankly said: “You can’t really prepare and study for a career after you graduate. You just kinda wade your way through.”

“As you grow older, you realize some things are not meant to be. Some things aren’t for you and they’re for other people and you get to adjust,” he added.

Evangelista asked the senator for tips on pursuing dreams, and Escudero answered, “At some point in time you will find your point of equilibrium, and you will find what you’ll be doing for the rest of your life.”

While choosing a career is important, Evangelista emphasized most people’s dilemma on balancing passion and the need to earn an income.

For those who make money, but doesn’t get to do what they like doing, Escudero’s said, “Engage whatever you’re passionate about. You don’t really have to be good at it as long as you engage in it and that’s the important part. It makes you happy.”

Evangelista got too candid with the question on what to splurge on and invest on, revealing that she only handled her own money after meeting her husband.

For Escudero, the basic rule is: “Anything that’s on sale, if you don’t need it, is expensive.”

The couple also gave netizens a glimpse into their relationship, with Escudero revealing a new side of himself.

He shared that men and women differ on when courtship really starts. Escudero said that most women think  that courting starts when the man asks permission.

For a man, however, the senator said, “Mula noong binigyan ka niya ng espesyal na atensyon, sa akin, panliligaw na iyon (At the time he starts giving you special attention, for me that is already the start of courtship).”

The couple also shared the story of their first dates. Escudero shared that he rented a jeepney to allow Evangelista to experience riding in it for the first time.

He said they rode a jeep to the University of the Philippines in Diliman, and later ate siomai at Aberdeen Court in Quezon City.

On how much does one really spend on dates and whether it’s okay to split the bill in half, the senator said, “Might as well bring her to a restaurant you can afford than pay 50/50.”

The couple wrapped up the video by discussing life’s purpose. Escudero admitted that at almost 49 years old, he’s still not sure.

Nonetheless, he said, “It should be a constant search, you should never be satisfied, really. You should never stop searching for whatever else you can do.” /ee
