“Never ako nagpabayad sa mga opinyon ko sa Twitter (I never paid for expressing my views on Twitter),” Ethel Booba said in a tweet on Sunday after a netizen claimed she’s getting paid for slandering some politicians.

The comedienne shared a screenshot of a netizen’s Facebook post which said: “Totoo pala na binayaran si Ethel Booba para siraan ang dating Senador Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada, pati na rin sila Gen. Bato, Koko Pimentel paging maging ang ating pangulo.”
(It’s true that Ethel Booba was paid to discredit former senators Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada as well as Ge. Bato, Koko Pimentel, and even the president.)
“Ngaun makikita ang kulay ni Ethel PERA PERA lang yan,” the netizen added.
(Now we are going to see Ethel’s true colors. It’s just about money.)
Ethel denied the claim that she posted negative comments about President Rodrigo Duterte: “Unang una wala akong paninira sa ating Pangulo kahit magbungkal ka ng tweets ko (I didn’t say anything about the President even if you dig up my past tweets).
She insisted that her jokes were not meant to discredit politicians.
Ethel also bluntly told her detractors: “Dalawa lang yan, bayad ka sa pagpapakalat ng fake news laban sa akin or tanga ka lang. Charot!”
(It only means two things: you were paid to disseminate fake news about me or you’re a fool.)
In a separate tweet, the comedienne shared the Facebook profile of the said netizen and urged her followers to report it for “spreading fake news”: “Report na lang natin sya sa pagpapakalat nya ng fake news. Again, bayad ka sa ginagawa mo or tanga ka kaya nagbibintang ka ng walang ebidensya. Charot!”

Ethel’s colorful commentary on some political hopefuls recently went viral during the filing of the certificates of candidacy (COC) for next year’s election.
Her latest comical tweet was directed at Ramon “Bong” Revilla, who filed his COC through wife Lani Mercado for the senatorial race: “Kuha po kayo ng NBI Clearance sa counter 6. Charot!”
(Please get NBI Clearance at counter 6.)
Ethel Booba is known for being outspoken views on politics and social issues, which catches the attention of netizens. /ee
