Arnell Ignacio defends Regine Velasquez’s ABS-CBN transfer: ‘Listen to her sing, enjoy it and shut up’

While Regine Velasquez delights in being a new Kapamilya, it appears that some fans are not happy with her decision to make the transfer. Good thing her friend Arnell Ignacio is there to defend her.
The comedian turned Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA) deputy administrator defended the Asia’s Songbird from her bashers, through a Facebook post today, Oct. 18.
While the singer’s fans are happy for her transfer, some netizens could not accept her decision, such as one @marsriveradantes who commented in one of Velasquez’s Instagram post.
“BINIGAY SAYO LAHAT NG GMA. INALAGAAN KA AT DI PINABAYAAN. PALAGI KANG MAY SARILI MONG SHOWS AT IKAW NA DIN ANG NAGSABI NA MALAKI ANG SWELDO MO,” the netizen argued. “PRIORITY KA, IKAW ANG REYNA.”
(GMA gave everything to you and they never left you. You always had your own shows and you said so yourself that you receive a hefty salary. You are a priority. You are the queen.)
Sharing the same sentiment was @lhore_lee. “Hay grabe sa isang iglap kinalimutan ang kapuso,” (Goodness, all of a sudden she forgets being a Kapuso.) the netizen said.

And one @judiebitara even went as far as calling Velasquez “pa-famous,” saying that other singers like Morissette Amon and KZ Tandingan are better than Velasquez.

Ignacio quickly came to Velasquez’s defense. “Yung mga bumabatikos kay regine na ang sasakit nang sinasabi pero walang nalalaman sa kalakaran ng entertainment e ang sasarap niyong pagsasampalin,” he shot at the netizens.
(Those who bash Regine, giving her harsh words although they know nothing of the entertainment industry, deserve to be slapped.)
He then asked the bashers if they see Velasquez as a welfare officer. “Trabaho niya kumanta at may bayad yun natural,” he said. “Kung malaki ibabayad sa kanya ano nakakapagtaka run. E si regine velasquez yan”
(It’s her job to sing and she should get paid for it, naturally. If she gets paid big, what’s surprising about that? She is Regine Velasquez.)
Ignacio mentioned that he and the singer have already been friends since she was still known as Chona Velasquez. “This woman went through all the test of an entertainer and she passed all these with exemplary grades [with] even more to give,” he said.
He then gave his final word to her bashers: “Sa inyo na walang alam (To those who don’t know anything) be thankful [that] we have Regine Velasquez. Listen to her singing, enjoy it and shut up.” For speaking up, Ignacio also apologized to Velasquez’s husband, Ogie Alcasid, telling him he could not stay silent anymore.
