WATCH: Korina Sanchez gives away slippers to neighbors in Cubao as ‘pa-birthday’

“Rated K” host Korina Sanchez decided that the best way to give back to her neighbors in Cubao, Quezon City during her birth month is to continue her advocacy of giving away rubber slippers.
Sanchez took to Instagram yesterday, Oct. 16 to share videos and photos of her birthday celebration in Brgy. Soccorro. In one of her videos, she is seen gifting a shy boy a pair of brand new slippers.
“Since it is still my birthday month and, yes it isn’t over yet, I thought it was about time to celebrate with my actual neighbors in Cubao, QC!” she wrote. “Just a stone’s throw away from where we live, we got 150 families from the urban poor to give a day of happiness to!”

“Look at how a pair of slippers spells a world of difference for this little boy,” she added. “It should all start in the home. Or in your own barangay.”
In a separate post, she blew out the candles of her birthday cake while surrounded by her neighbors. “The best gift is the chance to give,” she captioned.

Her neighbors did not take Sanchez’s birthday bash for granted, thanking her and greeting her simultaneously as seen on her Instagram Stories.

Sanchez is known for leading the “Isang Milyong Tsinelas” campaign, an advocacy to help restore the dignity of impoverished children by giving them slippers. She is also active in promoting animal welfare. She established the Philippine Animal Guardians for Humane Societies (PAGHS), a foundation created to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home stray, neglected and abused animals. JB
