K-pop group sensation BTS has achieved another milestone after being named as Favorite Social Artist at the 2018 American Music Awards (AMA) on Tuesday.
They are the first K-pop artists to win the award at the renowned award show, beating Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and Shawn Mendes.
Unfortunately, BTS was not present at the awards show because of their “Love Yourself” tour’s European leg.
They nevertheless extended their excitement and appreciation in a prerecorded video message played during the red carpet show, saying, “Thank you so much, we’re so thrilled to win the favorite social artist award!”
“We just finished touring America and there was so much love and support! Thank you ARMY, so much, for voting for us for this very special award! And thank you, AMAs!” the group added.
In 2017, BTS became the first K-pop act to ever perform at the AMAs with song “DNA.” BTS also bagged the Top Social Artist award at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards in May.
The group performed for the first time in London on Tuesday, Oct. 9 and is set to have their second show on Wednesday, Oct. 10. BTS will also bring their “Love Yourself” tour in Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris. /je
