Sometimes, actors and actresses have to undergo necessary physical changes for the roles they portray. “The Kissing Booth” star Joey King, for example, shaved her head for her upcoming role in the first season of the true crime anthology drama web television series “The Act”.

King posted via Instagram today, Oct. 9, a video of herself getting her hair shaved off. She will be taking on the role of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a young woman who killed her mother Dee Dee (Patricia Arquette) in 2015. The first season of the series focuses on the true story of Dee Dee, subjecting a supposedly-healthy Gypsy to surgeries and medications due to a variety of alleged health problems, as well as her subsequent murder in 2015.

“This story is very disturbing and I am honored to be able to portray it,” she said.

She also shared a photo of herself after shaving her hair off. Rocking a black denim jacket and sunglasses with purple lenses, she confidently showed off her new do.

Unlike other people who get anxious when getting a new hair cut, King, apparently, does not care what her hair looks like.

“I’ve never really had an attachment to my hair. I couldn’t care less what happens to it,” King told Allure today. “No part of me was nervous or was second-guessing it. So many people would ask me, ‘Are you really scared?’ or ‘Are you nervous?’ or say, ‘You’re so brave.’ And I’d go, ‘I’m not brave, I’m just cutting my hair off.'”

This was the third time Joey King shaved off her hair for a role. In 2012, she had a buzzcut for “The Dark Knight Rises”. In 2014, she shaved her own head on-camera for the drama comedy “Wish I Was Here”. JB
