Filipino alternative dance-rock band IV of Spades has scored a nomination as Best Southeast Asia Act at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards.
If IV of Spades bags this year’s Best Southeast Asia Act award, they will be the third Filipino act to do so following James Reid in 2017 and Sarah Geronimo in 2014.
Other nominees for the category are Indonesia’s Afgan, Thailand’s Slot Machine and Twopee Southside, Malaysia’s Joe Flizzow, Vietnam’s Minh Hằng and Singapore’s The Sam Willows.
To be held at the Bilbao Exhibition Center in Spain, the 2018 MTV EMAs is set to announce the winners on Nov. 5.
The band first wowed the international crowd in 2017 by winning Air Asia’s Dream Come True campaign and performing with David Foster in Indonesia.
Known for their hit song “Mundo” and the recently released “Bata, Dahan-Dahan,” the three-member band bagged the Best New Artist award at the MYX Music Awards 2018. /je
