Cesar Montano breaks silence on annulment of his marriage

Since it’s common knowledge in the biz that Cesar Montano (aka Buboy) and I are longtime best friends, media colleagues have been badgering me about his sentiments regarding the annulment of his marriage to Sunshine Cruz.

As soon as BFF Buboy got the court’s decision, he texted me immediately.

Buboy said that he would rather not grant interviews about it because his three daughters with Shine are involved.

“It’s best not to say anything to the press,” he quipped. “Less talk, less mistake.”

But after taking a weeklong birthday break from writing my column, I asked Buboy if he could share even just a few thoughts about his annulment with the Inquirer. Since he considers me as family and not as a media person, he gave in.

Here goes:

“I believe God allows everything to happen for a purpose. Marriage is one of the most expensive schools of highest learning in life. But more valuable than money is time. God didn’t let me get out of it without learning something. God is good, all glory to Him.”

Since my marriage has also been annulled many love stories ago, I can totally relate with Buboy. But just because a marriage ended, it does not mean that it failed if both parties have become better persons and learned what they had to learn.

For whatever Buboy and Shine have shared is worth and for the sake of their three lovely daughters, may they find their way back to friendship and honor the memory of the love that brought them together, once upon a time.

PERSONAL: Thanks from the bottom of my heart to my adoptive fam in Macau—John, Rose, Stefi and Jebi Aquino, Yaya Dub of Macau, Jaezel Cruz and Lola Virgie Generao—for another unforgettable birthday vacay. Check out their cool restobar, Chinoy Express Lutong Bahay at Rua da Alfandega. It is the go-to fun place for OFWs in Macau.
