Saab Magalona and her bandmates had to leave their recent show in Makati due to the crowd’s unruly and violent behavior. Magalona was supposed to perform with her band, The Cheats, at B-Side last Sept. 29, Saturday.

Their free concert was supposed to be their last in the venue following news that B-Side would be closing down after years of establishing itself as a community for artists and musicians.

Magalona shared a video, taken by their drummer Enzo Hermosa, on Twitter last Saturday, showing people walking through a broken glass door of a restaurant and B-Side security trying to contain a horde of concertgoers from the entrance.

“Crowd outside Bside started shouting and cursing at the guards to let them in,” wrote Magalona. “They broke the glass door of Wingman and were climbing the gates.”

The Cheats was slated to perform in B-Side’s closing party, apty called “End of an Era”, with other artists and bands such as Greyhoundz, Kapitan Kulam, Bawal Clan and Rastaro, among others. This, however, didn’t come to fruition because of the uncontrollable crowd.

“Not enough security for a free concert,” Magalona added. “We had to leave. Pls be careful!”

Despite the unfortunate situation, however, nobody from Magalona’s camp seemed to be hurt. Meanwhile, fans of The Cheats can instead catch their favorite band at Satchmi, SM Megamall in Ortigas this coming Oct. 6 for a special acoustic set. JB
