Alden’s daredevil stunts in solo show delight fans

Alden Richards in “Adrenaline Rush”

Staying true to the title of his second major solo show, “Adrenaline Rush,” Alden Richards pulled off bustling production numbers onstage, much to the delight of fans who packed the Kia Theatre recently.

In one of his opening gimmicks, the 26-year-old star—sporting a hooded robe—descended onstage via a harness, before initiating a choreographed, parkour-like fight sequences with his backup dancers.

For his Bruno Mars medley, Alden rode a motorcycle as he entered the venue.

Together with Rodjun Cruz and Ruru Madrid, Alden showed his cheeky side in a “Magic Mike”-inspired dance number, which saw him doing sexy dance moves and pulling his tank top ever so slightly.

But there were tender moments, too. He dedicated the uplifting ballad, “I Will Be Here,” to the elderly. He did some of his favorite worship songs, and initiated sing-along sessions in his performance of the “AlDub” theme “God Gave Me You,” and his hit single, “Wish I May.”

Then, there were some good, old singing and dancing: He had duets with Regine Velasquez (“With a Smile”) and Ai-Ai delas Alas (Aegis medley); engaged Betong in a funny dance showdown; performed the hip-hop anthem “Hayaan Mo Sila” with Ex Battalion; and brought pop music nostalgia with a boy band medley with the group, One Up.

Addressing the crowd, Alden said that he finds happiness in other people’s happiness. “When I do something I love, may it be performing, acting or hosting … it’s heartening that I’m able to make people happy. And I’m so thankful,” said Alden, who also hoped to continue “making memories” with his loyal fans as he continues his journey in show biz and in life.
