‘Di Ka Pasisiil,’ ABS-CBN’s documentary on the Marawi Siege, won the Gold Dolphin for Best Documentary under the Current Affairs, Human Concerns, and Social Issues Category at the 9th Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards in France on Thursday, Sept. 27.
Journalists Jeff Canoy and Chiara Zambrano received the award in Palm Beach, Cannes, France.
“Tonight, we won the first ever Gold Dolphin for the Philippines in Cannes,” Canoy wrote in an Instagram post.
Zambrano also wrote a heartfelt message through her Facebook account saying the award is for “all the people in Marawi whose lives were taken in horrible ways. For their loved ones, who will never be the same. For the soldiers who agreed to enter the nightmare, and stay in the nightmare until the skies were dark no more.”
The documentary was among more than a thousand entries received by the international competition.
‘Di Ka Pasisiil’ covers the accounts of civilians and military throughout the 5-month attempt of local group terrorists to take over Marawi City.
It is not a first for the documentary produced by ABS-CBN DocuCentral to be recognized internationally. In April 2018, it also won the Gold World Medal in the New York Festivals for Best Continuing News Coverage.
