WATCH: Regine Velasquez pulls Nate’s baby tooth by herself

Losing a baby tooth is an exciting rite of passage for kids — so, mom Regine Velasquez chose to take a hands-on approach, extracting her son Nate’s loose baby tooth by herself.
Asia’s Songbird shared via Instagram yesterday, Sept. 19, an endearing video of her personally taking care of Nate’s loose front tooth as well as a photo of the result of their at-home tooth extraction. “Nag mahal umuga nabungi (He loved, [it] went loose, he lost a tooth],” she said.

Nate, who was sporting dinosaur print pajamas, looked nervous as his mother tied what appeared to be dental floss to his left front tooth. Velasquez noted that tying the floss to the loose tooth was the hardest part in the procedure. She also revealed it was not the first time she extracted Nate’s tooth on her own.
When the floss was secured, she asked Nate if he was ready to have his teeth pulled. “Don’t pull it so hardly (sic),” Nate reminded his mother.
“At the start, you just pull it softly,” he said. He then proceeded to show her mother the right amount of force she should exert in pulling his teeth. Velasquez heeded his request and pulled the floss but his tooth didn’t come out.
Velasquez, wanting to put Nate out of his misery, took her son’s face on her left hand and used her right hand to give a sharp tug at the floss. The startled Nate was speechless when his tooth was extracted suddenly. He immediately handed his mother a gauze which she later used to stop the gum’s bleeding.
Celebrity friends were quick to react to the video. Rachelle Ann Go, Karla Estrada and Jed Madela took note of how cute Nate was.

One netizen, Ancilla Domini (@ancilla88), said that Velasquez’s simplicity is what endeared the singer to her.
