Singer-actor Carlo Aquino reunited with his former sweetheart and love team partner, actress Angelica Panganiban, for their upcoming movie “Exes Baggage.”
In a press conference for the movie on Wednesday, Carlo was asked what he missed about Angelica. He said it was her being a caring person.
“Ako ‘yung [what I miss] pagiging maalaga niya kasi walang mintis yan eh, sa pagkain paghahainan niya ko susubuan ako niyan ‘yun ‘yung namiss ko talaga sa kanya,” Carlo said.
Angelica, on the other hand, said she missed Carlo’s attitude of being easy to work with. “Ang hirap kasi magkaroon ng ka-trabaho na sobra kang komportable,” she said.
“Wala naman ako naging ka-love team, as in wala talaga, as in CarGel lang. Bukod sa kanya, ang pinakamarami ko na naka-trabaho si Piolo [Pascual], she added.
The CarGel love team started out in the late ‘90s youth-oriented Saturday afternoon series “G-Mik.” They starred together with other the budding teen stars Camille Prats, John Prats, Steffano Mori, Mico Samson and Heart Evangelista.
Eventually, Carlo and Angelica’s “reel” love turned into a real-life relationship which lasted for over six years.
Even after their relationship ended, they remained one of the most memorable love teams of the early 2000s.
“Siguro napakaswerte lang namin, kasi sa Pilipinas hindi ba napaka-hopeless romantic lang talaga ng mga tao?” Angelica asked.
Carlo, on the other hand, said, “Marami kasing mga naniniwala na first love never dies. Sa amin nila inaasa yung pag-ibig nila.”
In Carlo’s guesting on the Sunday comedy talk show “Gandang Gabi Vice,” he said their relationship may have failed because they were too young at the time.
If they formed the relationship when they were more mature, Carlo said, “baka kami na talaga yung nagkatuluyan.”
At present, both actors are single. Angelica had been very open in saying that she has completely moved on from her controversial relationship with former boyfriend, actor John Lloyd Cruz.
Carlo, on the other hand, broke up months ago with his longtime ex-girlfriend Kristine Nieto.
This makes CarGel fans hoping for a “second chance” for the childhood sweethearts. /vvp
