Epy Quizon
A great movie like the 2015 blockbuster, “Heneral Luna,” ought to have a sequel—and that’s exactly what “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” is. The historical biopic about Gen. Gregorio del Pilar opens on Sept. 5.
In the film, Epy Quizon portrays Apolinario Mabini. He bears an uncanny resemblance to the revolutionary leader who’s known as the “Sublime Paralytic.” The versatile actor could very well be called “Epylinario” Mabini.
Here’s my chat with Epy:
What did “Goyo” make you discover about our nation’s history? That heroes are not saints.
Why should Pinoys watch it? The film will raise a lot of questions, especially about our past.
I hope this film inspires us to find answers. But one thing we cannot do is let them pass us by.
What’s your fave line in “Goyo”? “Tandaan mo kung sino ka.” (Remember who you are.)
What’s your fondest memory with your dad Dolphy? Singing to him at his death bed.
If your dad were still around, what would you ask him to advise you about? I’d ask advice on my love life.
What don’t people know about the Quizons? We’re all different, like apples and oranges.
Which of your dad’s movies would you want to remake? “Omeng Satanasia,” because of the multiple characters he played in it.
