Some of actor Israel Broussard’s problematic old tweets recently resurfaced, revealing him to be a Donald Trump supporter, among other things, much to the disappointment of some fans.
Broussard, who recently starred in Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” tweeted about a prominent activist movement in 2016: “Black Lives Matter has one goal. Division.”
In another Twitter post, the actor, now 24, said, “I’m not going out for a gay role. Thank you, though.” That was in 2009, but in 2013, he played a gay character in the crime film, “The Bling Ring.”
His tweet on Japan’s massive earthquake in 2011: “Dogs can sense earthquakes. Too bad Japan ate them all.”
The actor also “liked” posts that referred to the 2012 Sandy Hook school shootings as fake.
Fans are polarized; some have declared that they are “done” with him, while others are willing to give the “Happy Death Day” actor another chance.
Broussard’s controversial tweets were deleted, and he eventually issued an apology: “I am deeply sorry for my inappropriate and insensitive words and likes on social media. I take full responsibility for my actions and sincerely apologize. This has been a pivotal life lesson for me. I am dedicated to becoming a more informed and educated version of myself.
