After three years of being together, LJ Reyes and Paolo Contis’ brood will get bigger as they are now expecting a child together.
“YES WE ARE!” the actor wrote in excitement about the news on Instagram Monday, Aug. 27. “God has blessed us with the perfect gift and we couldn’t be happier!”
The baby will be the second for Reyes and third for Contis. A son, Aki, was born to Reyes and ex-boyfriend Paulo Avelino in 2010, while Contis has two daughters with ex-wife Lian Paz.
In his announcement of the pregnancy, Contis looked back to when he and Reyes first got together as a couple, and how their relationship saw him through: “I felt so lucky! With all the problems I had, all the baggage I carry, you still accepted me and became my partner and strength.”
Contis also made a vow to Reyes about the pregnancy: “I promise to be beside you all the way. You will never ever be alone.”
How LJ told Aki
Reyes too shared the big news to her first born Aki, capturing the moment in a vlog posted on her YouTube channel.
She did so by asking him a series of questions written on paper, only answerable by either “yes or “no.” Reyes asked him questions such as “Are you about to turn 8?”
The actress then teased questions about her pregnancy to Aki: “Are you ready to be responsible?” “Do you want to have a playmate?” and “Do you want a new best friend?”
After the boy answered “yes” to the questions, Reyes then told him “Today, you didn’t say ‘hi’ to your baby brother or sister.”
But Aki was one not to be fooled by what he thought was a joke. So to prove her pregnancy, Reyes showed the sonogram of the baby to him, which had him saying, “That’s me!”
“No, totoo! (It’s true!) Mommy’s pregnant!” Reyes told Aki, to which he replied “No, that’s me nga! Ang kulit mo! (You’re stubborn!).” Contis himself had to step in to assure Aki they were not kidding him. Aki was finally convinced when his mom turned teary-eyed. JB
