Lea Salonga expressed her disappointment on social media recently after discovering that a certain art work in Serendra, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig had unfortunately been turned into a trash bin.

Salonga shared pictures of the sculpture on her Instagram last Aug. 23. The sculpture was a large, white sphere with holes all over it and is one of the spherical sculptures in the area.

“Serendra. We spotted this ball while waiting to be picked up. Out of curiosity, we peeped through the holes to see what was inside,” narrated Salonga on her post. “Imagine our shock and disappointment to find that it’s been turned into a trash bin. Sigh.”

Salonga’s post has received thousands of likes since, with netizens seemingly echoing her own sentiments. Make up artist to the stars, Denise Ochoa, was one of the people who commented on Salonga’s post, expressing her disappointment as well over the sight.

“That’s so heartbreaking,” wrote Ochoa. “How do they even have the guts to throw anything there. It’s heartbreaking how a simple gesture of throwing it where it’s supposed to be cannot be done. What more the tasks that are harder to do?”

Salonga replied to Ochoa, chucking the disgraceful act to people’s entitlement and selfishness.

“Call it mindset,” Salonga said. “‘If I can get away with this small thing, what else could I get away with?’ Same with buses and jeeps not stopping at designated stops. Or [cars] taking up two parking spaces.”

“There’s various levels of entitlement and selfishness permeating our society that we all need to get rid of if we’re to make any significant move forward,” Salonga added.

Meanwhile, Sen. Pia Cayetano commented on Salonga’s post, saying their barangay captain will oversee the matter.

“Got this Lea,” Cayetano wrote. “Our Barangay captain is on it. He will handle it.”
