Supergirl” actress Melissa Benoist recently expressed gratitude for the opportunity to portray singer-songwriter Carole King in the show, “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” which she starred in from June until early this month.
“Dreams came true for me this summer. Seriously,” the actress said of her Broadway debut in a caption for an Instagram photo album with King, who visited days before Benoist’s final show. “These photos basically capture how it felt. A whole lot of love, gratitude, joy and hard work; a company of fantastic human beings; and of course, the legend herself, [Carole King].”
The surprise visit by 76-year-old King stunned Benoist—the latter is shown screaming at the sight of the icon in video clips—and led to their impromptu performance of “I Feel the Earth Move.”
‘Just amazing’
Prior to the number, King gushed and described the “Supergirl” star’s performance as “Amazing, just amazing!” This made the 29-year-old sob tears of joy.
Alongside a photo of that visit, Benoist wrote, “Some moments in life are simply surreal. [Carole] came to see [“Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”] tonight, and I have no words. Thank you, Carole, for coming, and for being such a magical light of a human.”
The actress was in two seasons of the teen musical series “Glee,” from 2012 to 2014.
