“You’re nothing but a second rate, trying hard copycat.” This may be the most famous line Cherie Gil ever delivered in a movie. And she thought it best to reenact the famous scene with no less than her mom, Rosemarie.
“Now THIS IS CLASSIC!” Cherie wrote on one of her Instagram accounts, @the_real_lavinia_arguelles on Tuesday, Aug. 21. She added that she herself requested her mom to do it with her.
In the video, Cherie mockingly asks her mother, “So, kamusta naman ratings ng show namin kaysa sa inyo?” (So, how is my show’s ratings against yours?)
Insulted by her question, Rosemarie then splashed water on her daughter’s face and uttered the popular line from the classic movie “Bituing Walang Ningning”.
Lauding her mom, Cherie added: “haha touché only my mother can do this to me! Thank you mom for being such a great sport!”
The veteran actresses are not only related by blood, they are also television rivals. Cherie’s GMA show “Onanay” airs on the same time as Rosemarie’s “Ngayon At Kailanman” on rival network ABS-CBN.
Currently, Gil’s goal is to reenact her famous “copycat” scene via her @the_real_lavinia_arguelles Instagram account.
“My mission : to arrive to 100 victims and relive this 1986 iconic scene with every relevant person I meet in the 21st century,” she wrote in the Instagram page’s description. Several celebrities who have participated in the challenge include Iza Calzado, Ricky Davao and Atom Araullo. JB
