Gabrielle Ruiz
Gabrielle Ruiz, who plays ex-mean girl and yoga teacher Valencia in the comedy-musical series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” took to Instagram and answered questions sent by her followers.
On her fave episode, she responded, “[It’s] ‘Josh’s Girlfriend is Really Cool!’ because [it’s where] Valencia was introduced. My whole life changed when I booked [the show].”
She added that she was originally meant to appear in only three episodes, but gladly became a regular by the second season.
A tidbit from her 2008 Broadway debut, “In The Heights”: “My first day of rehearsal, I’ll never forget Lin-Manuel (Miranda, her costar) walking across the stage [and shouting], ‘Hey Gabby!’ It’s like, ‘Oh my God, we’re friends!’”
Ruiz’s dream role on Broadway? “One with only me in mind.”
‘Grateful’
The actress, 33, also disclosed she wasn’t good at yoga by shaking her head.
And would she date Josh in real life? She sarcastically laughed and gave a firm “No!”
On playing a bisexual woman, Ruiz, who identifies as straight, said: “I’ve always been comfortable around women… and with myself. I’ve always been proud to support many walks of life.”
Asked if fans should say hello or give her space if they meet her, she replied, “Say hey. It’s cool. I’m grateful. And I’m not that famous.”—OLIVER PULUMBARIT
