Erich Gonzales and Ejay Falcom may be the best of friends now, but a decade ago that wasn’t the case. Both actors said their friendship had a rough start.

They first worked together in the 2009 television classic “Katorse.” As they were both very young then, they said they both didn’t have a deep understanding of many things.

“Mga bata pa kami immature, so mga maliliit na bagay ginagawang big deal kahit konting ano lang (Because we were young then, even the small things became big deals),” Gonzales said during their Friday guesting with the Kapamilya daily morning talk show “Magandang Buhay.”

Meanwhile, Falcon admitted that he lacked the graces of a gentleman then.

“Ako bilang leading man, alam ko naman din ‘yung pagkukulang ko di ba yung mga babae ‘pag pagod na pag nag-te-taping ako hindi ko iniisip kung anong pagod nila kulang siguro yung pagiging gentleman ko at that time (As the leading man, I have shortcomings such as my lack of understanding during the taping, the ladies were tired),” said Falcon.

Hence, their friendship suffered. He disclosed taht they did not talk to each other for two to three years.

“Parehas kaming tactless at that time, wala siyang pakialam sa sasabihin niya, tapos sensitive ako masyado so sabi ko, bahala ka wag na nga tayo mag-usap (We were both tactless at that time. He doesn’t care what he says and he was very sensitive, so it’s better that we just stop talking),” Gonzales added.

Among the reasons for their rift was reportedly Falcon telling Gonzales: “Hindi pa ikaw yung Nene ng katorse alam kong nandun na ko sa show (You are not yet the star of Katorse I was already in the show).”

As time went by, Falcon said he missed working with the actress, so eventually their animosity bloomed into a beautiful friendship. In fact, Falcon never forgot to greet the actress on her birthday every year.

“Lagi ko siyang tinetext, ang wish ko sa kanya laging sana magkatrabaho ulit tayo (I always send her a text message saying how I wish we can together again),” he said.

Although they eventually became good friends, it didn’t blossom into romance.

“Hindi dumating sa point na nagligawan pero alam mo naman lalo ngayon iba talaga yung magiging paghanga mo sa kanya bilang nakapa husay na artista (We didn’t reach that point but you know, you will really admire her as she has turned into a very good actress),” Falcon said.

They have finally reunited in the top-rating afternoon series “The Blood Sisters,” which also stars veteran actorsTessie Tomas, Dina Bonnevie, Cherry Pie Picache, Jestoni Alarcon, and many others.

Gonzales also ventured into film production. She produced Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2018 entry “We Will Not Die Tonight,” which she also top-bills. /ee
