King of RnB Jay-R has made a huge impact since he started in the early 2000s as one of the country’s most promising singers. But even someone as talented and famous as him wasn’t spared from experiencing “attitude” from up and coming singers who wanted to carve a path just like he did.
“Ako dati sa kabila, isa siyang bagong artist very young guy, yun dating manager ko si Tita Geleen Eugenio she introduced me to this new artist she said I want you to meet this new guy he’s a fan of yours and he wants to make it in the industry so nag-usap kami. Sa handshake pa lang, sa tingin niya pa lang sa’kin parang iba na kagad (demonstrating how the artist pointed his chin up to him), Jay-R shared at the press conference for his concert called “SoulJa” together with Queen of Soul Jaya and Jason Dy.
What’s more, the follow up sentence of his supposed fan surprised him.
“Jay-R, I’m gonna be more famous than you,” he said. Of course he shied away from naming the singer.
He, however, said that whenever he encounters incidents like such, he just normally takes the backseat and puts on humility rather than compete with such “attitude” singers.
“SoulJa” concert is set to be staged at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila on August 30. /jpv
