Carmina walks out on ad shoot with Claudine

Carmina Villaroel almost asked a commercial shoot with Claudine Barretto to “pack up” after getting irked by the latter’s endless demands.

First, Claudine requested that she be given the bigger dressing room, which Carmina readily agreed to. Then Claud asked if, instead of Mina, she could be the one to wear the white long-sleeved shirt. Again, Mina did not object. Later, Claud said she needed a nap. That was fine with Mina, too.

The clincher was when Claud asked to deliver the longer line in the commercial. That was the last straw; Mina walked out.

Good thing cooler heads prevailed—the shoot eventually went on as scheduled. If there’s truth in advertising, there’s also real drama in the making of an ad. Stars sell even when they don’t always gel.

Perfect match

It was such a delight to interview Shalani Soledad and Roman Romulo during their wedding rehearsal. They are so well-suited for each other.

How sure are they that their whirlwind romance will turn into a lasting marriage? “We had full disclosure early on,” Roman said. “No secrets, no lies. We are totally secure with each other. Even if we’ve known each other for less than a year, we feel we’ve known each other all our lives.”

Shalani echoed the same sentiment. “As they say, when you’ve found your match, you just know,” she beamed. “Everything falls into place. So when he proposed to me after we dropped by a church to pray, I had no doubt in my heart and mind. I said yes!”

Romance and marriage are two different things. Romance is the sweet scent of roses, marriage is a whiff of burnt toast. But it seems love will not let Shalani and Roman feel the difference.

Not with John

Janice de Belen is all fired up for the Year of the Dragon as a Kapamilya talent.

“I’m happy to be working with old friends,” Janice beams. “But even if I signed up with ABS, I will still be hosting ‘Spoon’ on Net 25.”

When I guested in “Spoon,” Janice told me she was no longer up to hosting a show-biz talk show because she doesn’t want her own private space invaded. If you’re able to dish the dirt, you should be able to take it.

So what made her accept the offer of ABS-CBN? “My show with Carmina Villaroel, Joey Marquez and Ogie Diaz will be a different take on show-biz stories,” she explains. “There’s nothing about my life that hasn’t been talked about, anyway.”

Is she willing to work with her ex John Estrada? “Even if it’s a good project, working with John is out of the question,” she says.

Will she allow her kids with John to be close to the coming baby girl of John and Priscilla? “Kapatid rin nila ‘yon. No issues there.”

Spoken like the ulirang ina that she is. Single mom, multiple joys!
