John Arcilla, star of the acclaimed historical biopic “Heneral Luna,” said he’s “hopeful” that “more millennial viewers” will get the opportunity to see the said film’s upcoming sequel, “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” especially since it revolves around a “younger hero.”

“For sure, patriotism will be a central theme, but from a perspective of someone younger. And who knows, the movie may end up sparking a new discussion among the Filipino youth on how they can serve the country,” he told the Inquirer.

“And I’m pretty sure they will also love the playfulness … the romance angle,” added John, who’s one of the voice actors for the animated television series “Barangay 143,” which will air on GMA 7. “I hope those who supported ‘Luna’ will do the same for ‘Goyo.’”

John said he also believed that Gregorio del Pilar, who will be played by Paulo Avelino, will offer a nice contrast to Antonio Luna. “Luna is fiery. He speaks and laughs loudly. He’s larger than life,” he said. “Goyo, I would say, is relatively calmer, more romantic. Both are very unique characters.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
