In hopes of fulfilling her goal of becoming a psychiatrist, actress Sunshine Cruz said she plans to pursue a master’s degree in psychology when she turns 50.
“It’s a dream of mine. I’m working hard now and trying to save enough money, so that if I become too focused on my studies, my family and I would still be able to get by just fine,” the lovely 41-year-old actress said at a recent press conference.
“By that time, my kids will be done with their studies, so I think it would be my turn to tend to my dreams,” added Sunshine, who received her bachelor’s degree from Arellano University last year. “I’m claiming it!”
She admitted that juggling work and studies was hard. But seeing her three children excel in school inspired her to soldier on.
“I always encourage them to study well. But if they tell me, ‘Eh ikaw nga, Ma, hindi nakatapos.’ So despite the challenge, I did my best,” she related.
While her eldest daughter, Angelina, is now a recording artist, Sunshine said she couldn’t let her neglect her studies.
“It’s still her priority. And I tell her that she doesn’t have to work immediately, because I can still provide for them,” she said.
“I’m blessed to have very diligent and talented children, and I always tell them to be thankful for all the opportunities they have,” Sunshine said.—ALLAN POLICARPIO
