Since his monstrous sleeper hit “Kita Kita,” comedian Empoy Marquez has been cast in funny but leading man roles. Although such portrayals have done really well for him, there’s one particular role he wants to do – a dark, murderous supervillain who wipes out an entire population.
“Something suspense, ‘yung walang**** naman ‘yung role ko. Supervillains mga ganyan. Kunwari sa isang storya sa conference room may mga magkakasama na 30 mga katao tapos papatayin ko yan lahat,” he said with a tinge of signature Empoy joke at the media con of his movie “Kusina Kings” Friday.
(Something suspense, the bad guy. Supervillain, like that. As if the story goes like there’s a conference room filled with [say] 30 people and I will kill all of them)
Also, now that he rose from being a sidekick to becoming a leading man himself, he said he’s still open to going back to supporting roles as such decisions are already in the hands if his management.
“Nasa paguusap po yan sa manager ko, sa management, it’s up to them kung ano po ‘yung gusto nila,” he said.
(It’s already depending on the management, it’s up to them whatever they want me to do)
Marquez top-bills “Kusina Kings” with Kapamilya hunk Zanjoe Marudo. Also with them in the film are Nathalie Hart, Miss Philippines-Universe 2017 Maxine Medina, Ryan Bang, Jun Sabayton and many others. Directed by Victor Villanueva, the film hits cinemas starting July 25. /muf
