Pia Wurtzbach feels confident of Catriona Gray’s chances of taking home the 2018 Miss Universe crown.
Wurtzbach considers Gray to be a well-rounded individual who will be a strong contender for the crown. “I think we have a very good chance at Miss Universe with her. She’s a very well-rounded person, sobrang ganda, matangkad (very beautiful, tall), proud to be Filipino. I mean what more could you ask for?” said the former Miss Universe 2015, according to an exclusive interview with Push.
The beauty queen turned actress also weighed in on the discussion regarding Angela Ponce, the first transgender woman to win Miss Universe Spain in June. “I always knew that transgenders are allowed to join Miss Universe and win Miss Universe. So they’re welcome to join,” said Wurtzbach.
She admired the resiliency of transgender women. Wurtzbach noted the lifelong process of a transgender before they can finally be identified as a woman. She said, “Hindi naman yan (It’s not) like one day she just decided na, ‘You know what today I’m going to be a woman.”
