Barbie Imperial made a rare revelation of her personal pain when she shared pictures of her body marked by bruises in a now-deleted Instagram post — but has since uploaded another photo exposing her bruises, without making reference to how she was injured.
The deleted pictures show bruises below her collarbone, on her chest and on her left arm. It is unclear if the photos were taken on different occasions or within the same day.
She captioned the series of photos: “No to physical abuse. NEVER AGAIN.”
Along with the pictures, the 19-year-old actress tweeted a word of caution on July 14, Saturday: “Girls, just because mahal nyo ang isang tao pero sinasaktan kayo physically, hindi pwedeng patuloy yan. Hindi tama manakit ng babae physically.”
(Girls, don’t allow someone to hurt you physically just because you love him. It’s not right to hurt women physically.)
The posts have since been taken down, but netizens have reposted screenshots, as seen in the Twitter of one Zeke Hunter (@zekemartinx).
Since then, she tweeted “Be strong” last Saturday as well.
An Instagram post from Saturday shows her wearing the same tank top and denim jacket from the pictures with the bruises. She posed with a group consisting of actors Julia Barretto, Pat Sugui, Marco Gumabao, Josef Elizalde and model Debs Garcia. Interestingly, she captioned the picture, “Protectors.”
Her most recent post today shows her giving mom Bing Imperial a peck on the cheek, but what stands out is her right arm which appears to have been inflicted with injuries.
“I am strong because a strong woman raised me. You’re all I need mama. I love you,” she wrote, not detailing how she got the injuries.
In her own Instagram page, mom Bing shared a photo of her daughter with the caption, “Maraming nagmamahal sayo (Many people love you)” hours before Imperial’s post.
Netizens have speculated that the person behind the wounds and bruises is Paul Salas, whom she was known to be dating.
Though there has yet to be an official statement of their breakup, Salas has deleted pictures of the two as a couple from his Instagram account. Both have also unfollowed each other on the social media platform.
His father, UMD dancer Jim Salas, shared a post yesterday, July 15 which said, “Don’t play the victim to circumstances you created” and captioned it with “God knows.”
Whether it is related to Imperial’s posts was not specified. JB
