LOOK: Richard Yap and family blessed to meet Pope Francis
For some people, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the Pope — Richard Yap became one of the lucky and blessed few to meet His Holiness.
While in Vatican City, the “Sana Dalawa Ang Puso” star met the head of the Catholic Church on Friday, July 6. Yap shared the moment to his fans on his Instagram page.
In his posted video, Yap could be seen shaking hands with Pope Francis after mass was celebrated. He said that he felt “so blessed” to get close to him, as he was invited for the mass. He added that he almost missed the opportunity because he was supposed to leave the next day.

When God wills it, it will happen. 🙏🏻 We had the chance to meet Our Holy Father Pope Francis and attend First Friday Mass with Him celebrating it. We were even given the chance to shake his hand and say a few words. Feeling so blessed since the mass we were supposed to attend was to be on Sunday with Dylan and the rest of the boys, i was not supposed to catch it since i was leaving on Saturday, but suddenly we were invited to attend the mass on Friday. 😊 hope to share more pictures when we get it from the official photographer. 🙏🏻😇🙏🏻⛪️
Yap’s son Dylan was also lucky, having been able to serve in Pope Francis’ mass that day. The actor enthused: “This mass and meeting with the Pope was surreal.”
Yap, his wife Melody, daughter Ashley and Dylan all went up to the Pope to be blessed by him. “Still can’t get over such an amazing and blessed experience with His Holiness Pope Francis,” the actor gushed.
Yap’s rare moment with the Pope is indeed something to cherish. JB
