Have you ever dealt with people who have been snooping on your social media posts and building judgments about you? If you are, Julia Barretto may have the solution to your problem.
Barretto helped out television personality Bianca Gonzalez on the issue of dealing with judgmental people in the latest episode of Gonzalez’s “Paano Ba ‘To” vlog yesterday, July 9.
In the video, both took the question of “Miss-understood,” a new student in her school who thinks that people already have preconceived opinions about her. “Even if I be nice and do good, may negative pa din silang masasabi (they still have negative things to say about me),” the anonymous question sender said.
Barretto said that she too has dealt with something similar even until now. But one thing that she realized was “nakakapagod din pala yung worry ka na lang ng worry sa tingin ng iba sa iyo.” (You’ll get tired of worrying too much of what other people think of you.)
How did Barretto deal with it? By being true to herself and surrounding herself with good people, she managed to survive.
She explained that whether you do good or bad things, people will always have things to say about you: “But if you know yourself, that you’re doing something good — wala kang tinatapakan na tao na kahit sino (you’re not stepping on other people) — then you should be confident in yourself.”
Barretto also advised that if you see someone act a certain way and you do not understand the behavior, it would be good to try to be aware of what that person might have gone through.
“Kung ayaw mo naman naju-judge ka (If you do not want to be judged), why would you do that to others as well?” asked Gonzalez.
As her last advice, Barretto said that if you do not like something about a person, just find something that you might like about the person instead. She added, “There will always be something about us that others won’t like, but there’s also something in us that they will really like.” JB
