Baby Talitha Maria has been the apple of her parents’ eyes, Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto, since she was born in November 2017.
Fondly called Tali, her celebrity family and a number of showbiz personalities who have met her can’t help but find her irresistibly cute when they see her plump cheeks and the fat folds on her limbs.
Sharon Cuneta is one of those who was overcome with happiness at meeting the adorable baby girl. “Crazy about you!” she said in an Instagram post.
Luna, who constantly shares her joy of being mother to Baby Tali on Instagram, posted on July 7 that though she’s only 8 months old, “Talitha is now as tall as a 1 year old!”
In the picture, little Tali appears to be bubbling with delight as she bares a toothless smile while seated in her stroller.
But as with any internet post, some gave their unsolicited advice and comments, such as one Caroline Garcia (@pupcrew) who said, “Overweight. Bordering obesity. Not healthy.”
Luna swooped in to assure that Baby Tali is fine: “Hi ladies! She is a perfectly healthy baby. Her pedia says her weight is fine and she will lose weight once lumikot na sya (she starts becoming active). Thanks for the concern!”
The Kapuso TV personality has also had to defend herself when newborn Tali was sucking from a bottle. She confirmed to fans then that the content was breastmilk.
For those worried about a baby growing up obese, being breastfed is one way to lessen the chances of a child becoming overweight or obese.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), a child’s weight shouldn’t be a cause for concern yet if s/he is below two years of age. The first year of life is a time when babies store up on fat for when they’re active toddlers.
While citizens may have children’s best interests at heart, perhaps it would only be fair if they asked parents their side before offering well-meaning advice. After all, what’s known of the child is only what’s shared on social media. JB
