Comedian Ethel Booba has had her share of relationships, but this time she said it’s different.
In her July 3 guesting on Kapamilya daily morning talk show “Magandang Buhay,” Ethel shared what made her fall in love with beau Jessie Salazar.
Early this year, Booba, whose family owns a property in Boracay, said her family went on vacation in the resort island for about two months. When they were about to go back to Manila she told Salazar they would go in for a last swim.
“Parang bukas aalis na kami sabi ko mag-la-last swimming lang kami ng family ko, sabe niya o sige sabihin mo sakin saan kayo mag-swiming ah. Sabi ko ‘bakit?’ Sabe niya ‘basta’ (I told him we will leave Boracay the following day, but we were going in for a last dip. He said he wants to know where we are going to swim),” she said.
“Mga hapon pa lang, sabi niya ‘asan ka’ [I said] ‘dito nga’ [he said] ‘pumunta ka sa seashore, i-meet mo ko, vinideohan pa kami ng mama ko parang sa pelikula (In the afternoon, he asked me again where I was and he instructed me to go to the seashore to meet him there. He even took a video of my mom and me, just like in the movies),” she recounted.
It was at this point when the most romantic thing happened. When Booba asked him why he was in in the island, Salazar said he resigned from work to spend time with her.
“Parang 3 months 4 months straight na magkasama kami, maghihiwalay lang kami pag-aalis punta siya ng Manila may gig siya, may gagawin siya rito. Ang hirap pag magkalayo eh (We were together for around three to four months. We will only part ways when he needs to go back to Manila because of work. It’s hard to be apart),” she said.
Booba said this gesture was the turning point, and she knows then that she wants to be with Salazar forever.
“Yun ata yung pinaka sweet talaga na ginawa niya talagang pinatunayan niya sa parents ko na hindi niya kayang wala ako (That I guess was the sweetest thing he’s ever done. He proved to my parents that he can’t live without me),” Booba said. /ee
