WATCH: Ex Battalion sings campaign jingle for Bong Go

While Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go has stated earlier this month that he has no plans of running for a Senate seat, a campaign jingle has nevertheless been already made for him.

Hip hop group Ex Batallion (ExB) posted on its official Facebook page a pre-recorded pa-birthday campaign jingle for Go last June 14. The video has garnered over two million views, 43,400 likes and reactions, and 40,200 shares, as of this writing.

Borrowing the tune of their hit track “Hayaan Mo Sila”, ExB’s jingle delved into the reasons why one should vote for the 44-year-old Go in the 2019 Senatorial elections.

The lyrics went, “Gusto ko sa senado dahil siya ay natural/ Ayaw sa maling gawain ‘yan ang gusto ko d’yan.” (I want him in the Senate because he is a natural/ He doesn’t like misdeeds, that’s what I like about him.)

The group further stated in the jingle that SAP is “masipag, simple lang at ‘di mayabang” (industrious, simple and not boastful) while showing a clip of him shooting a ball. The jingle enumerated other traits that Go supposedly possesses: “determinado/ tunay at totoong tao/ natural/ may kawang-gawa/ respetado’t dedikado.” (Determined; a real and true person; natural; charitable; respected and dedicated.)

ExB also poked fun at Go for being labeled as the “presidential photobomber” and “selfie king.” “Pambansang photo-bomber pa ng Instagram/Tapos s’ya ay selfie king napaka-natural,” ExB sang. (National photobomber of Instagram./ Then, he’s also a selfie king, so natural.)

It is important to note that the campaign jingle is not official. Ex Battalion clarified in the lyrics that the jingle is more of a request for Go to run: “Samahan n’yo aka na patakbuhin s’ya sa senado.” (Join me in encouraging him to run for Senate.) JB
