Is there trouble in paradise for Pia Wurtzbach and boyfriend Marlon Stockinger?

The couple have unfollowed each other on Instagram again, about a year after they unfollowed and deleted photos of each other from the social media platform.

It’s unclear if it is mere coincidence, but the “unfollow” comes days after Wurtzbach met her K-Pop idol Siwon of the South Korean boy band Super Junior. The group performed in Manila as part of its world tour “Super Show 7” last Saturday, June 30.

Wurtzbach has been smitten with Siwon for years now, as proven by tweets dating back to 2009 where she professed her love for the K-Pop star.

The Miss Universe 2015 and her Filipino-Swiss race car enthusiast boyfriend have had on-again, off-again rumors hounding them since Stockinger confirmed they were “seeing each other” in October 2016.

In March 2017, Stockinger was alleged to be the father of twins with ex-girlfriend Kit Barraquias. While Wurtzbach appeared to be shocked by the news, the couple continued to go out together in public.

In July of the same year, both unfollowed each other on Instagram. Asked for an explanation, Stockinger was quoted in an ABS-CBN News report: “I think we are just keeping it private. It’s always good to show everything, a lot a bit in the beginning but what matters is the two of us in the end behind closed doors.” A month later, the two deleted photos of each other from the platform.

Questions were also raised in March when Wurtzbach starred in “My Perfect You” opposite Gerald Anderson. Anderson’s then girlfriend Bea Alonzo unfollowed and deleted photos of both Anderson and Wurtzbach from her Instagram, leading to questions if there had been a case of infidelity.

However, the beauty queen and her boyfriend put on a strong front when they attended a block screening of the film days after the controversy.

In the age of social media, “unfollows” speak louder than words; it’s become the equivalent of burning bridges in the online world. Whether the couple has also severed ties offline remains to be confirmed.   /ra
