Comedy queen Ai-ai delas Alas is set to showcase her powerhouse acting once again as she headlines the Cinemalaya 2018 official entry “School Service.”
CinemaBravo has posted a 30-second teaser of the film on Facebook.
Apart from delas Alas, critically-acclaimed director Joel Lamangan also joins the movie in a rare appearance as a cast member.
Other cast members include Therese Malvar, Joe Gruta, Felixia Dizon, Kevin Sagra, Kenken Nuyad, Ace Cafe, Sandino Oriquel, and Celine Juan in an introductory role.
Contrary to her usual lovable comedic antics, Delas Alas this time will show a seldom-seen mean side as a member of a child-trafficking syndicate.
She kidnaps and sells children and forces them to beg on the street.
In past interviews, the actress would mention that she had always been looking forward to doing indie films as she would get to experiment in different acting genres.
The last time she appeared in an indie film was in the internationally-acclaimed movie “Area,” which relates the story about a group of sex workers and their poor customers in a rundown brothel in Pampanga during Holy Week.
Cinemalaya is set to run from August 3 to 12 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and select Ayala cinemas. /atm
