Andi Eigenmann sells everything to live in Baler

Shocking to most it may seem but unlike most celebrities who enjoy luxury, Andi Eigenmann chooses to forego everything to have a simpler life.
Simple living for Eigenmann meant leaving the busy urban world and moving to Baler to enjoy a modest and laid-back provincial lifestyle. For starters, she spent her entire summer in the popular surf spot.
“Life there is just so different. It doesn’t mean that everybody should move to Baler with me but na-realize ko lang na itong lugar na ‘to, dito ko nababagay. [this place, I belong here] I want my daughter to witness and grow up in a place like this and also the people. I’ve grown so close to the people who live there. They’re like my family especially the little kids na mahal na mahal ko so why not just build my life there,” she told members of the media during the press conference of her latest movie “The Maid in London.”
In fact, she was so bold at this decision that living simply to her also meant leaving behind the luxurious life she once enjoyed.
“I sold everything that I felt was an idea of luxury that I didn’t need–I don’t own cars any designer clothes, bags–lahat ng mga pang-artistang ‘yan, make-up lahat ‘yan wala na. Kahit mga kasama sa bahay–yaya, driver, wala na lahat, talagang simple life,” she said.
(… all of those celebrity luxury, I don’t have anymore. Not even house help like nannies, drivers, I no longer have those)
“Because I felt na nag-contribute siya sa pagiging toxic ng buhay ko,” she added.
(Because I felt it was what contributed to the toxicity of my life)
“And as much as my life is not as extravagant, nothing close to my life before, I could not be any happier,” she said.
House in Baler
A current development into her journey to simple life is the construction of her house in Baler.
“Pinapatayo po, lupa lang po ‘yung binili ko. Simple lang po talag. Maliit lang siya na bahay malaki lang ‘yung garden. Ako na ‘yung mag-plant nung mga halaman,” she said.
(It’s under construction, I just bought a lot. It’s just fairly simple, it’s a pretty small house with a big garden, I will plant the plants myself)
Her mother however, multi-awarded actress Jaclyn Jose, did not exactly approve of her decision. In fact, she wants her to go back to showbiz.
“Hindi ko alam kung naniniwala ‘yung nanay ko sa’kin, she wants me to go back to showbiz. Tawag lang siya nang tawag, ‘Nak, ano ready kana ba bumalik?” she said.
(I don’t know if my mom believes me but she wants me to go back to showbiz, she often calls and asks me if I’m ready to go back)
She also clarified that she is single at the moment and is happy about it.
“I don’t have a partner, I’m single right now, happily single yes by choice,” she said. /muf
