Luis Manzano wasn’t backing down from a fight after a netizen wanted to check if his latest sneakers were real.
The TV host had taken to Instagram to show off his Adidas Yeezy 500 Super Moon Yellow, which was just released in early June. Manzano managed to cop a pair while vacationing in Europe through a Paris-based personal shopper.
One netizen, Red Garcia (@iamredgarcia) left a comment to check the shoes’ authenticity. “@yeezybusta hey,” he said, tagging a vlogger who exposes fake apparel.
The 37-year-old TV personality picked up on the comment and accused Garcia of being jealous. “Wag puro inggit sa katawan, magsikap lang kesa sa nega ka, mahirap gumigising araw araw ng inggit ang laman ng utak.”
(You shouldn’t have only envy in your body. Keep striving rather than staying negative. It’s hard to wake up every morning if all that’s on your mind is envy.)
“Grabe sa inggit. Agad agad? (Envious, really? Just like that?)” replied the netizen.
“Yup, imbes na manahimik, kelangan pagdudahan, ganyan talaga buhay ng inggit,” said Manzano. “Siguro pag may nangyayaring maganda sa pamilya o kaibigan mo, pinagiisipan mo agad ng masama mo, tsk.”
(Yup, instead of keeping quiet, you need to doubt, that’s the life of those who are jealous. Maybe if something good happens to your family or friends, you think of something bad right away.)
In their lengthy exchange, Manzano went on a tirade on how jealousy could be eating him up and affecting himself and his relationships. The netizen too wasn’t giving up and countered Manzano’s comments.
It appears that he even checked Garcia’s profile, since he advised, “Pre, ok naman sa St. Luke’s pre, sipag lang para mawala inggit sa buto!”
As per Garcia’s Facebook profile, St. Luke’s Medical Center is his workplace. In response, the netizen said he no longer worked there.
Eventually, Manzano said he would block him because he was supposedly talking to himself in the comments section.
The “I Can See Your Voice” host said he could have sent a direct message instead and reiterated that the commenter was only jealous and couldn’t be happy for others.
The netizen seemed proud to have argued with the celebrity and posted screenshots of their heated exchange which seems to have been deleted from Manzano’s post.
All that trouble over a pair of shoes. /ra
