Actor and balladeer Mark Bautista said all is well now months after he released his controversial book “Beyond the Mark.”
At a recent press conference for his latest musical “Eto na! Musikal nAPO,” Bautista said, “Bestseller siya sa National Bookstore and so far okay naman ‘yung pagtanggap ng mga tao.”
(It’s a bestseller at the National Bookstore and so far, people have accepted it well.)
In the book he released earlier this year, Bautista spoke about how he was sexually molested by a distant cousin when he was young.
For many years, Bautista did not speak about what he went through. He now encourages parents to be more cautious about the people that their children interact with.
Bautista also revealed in the book that he was bisexual, having had relationships with both men and women.
During the press con, Bautista admitted that not everyone had a positive reaction to what he divulged in the book.
“Siyempre hindi ko ma-please naman lahat. Maraming iba-ibang reaction but now na nalagpasan ko siya, saka wala na nagsasabi na negative sa akin. ‘Yung first lang na lumabas may parang na-shock,” he said.
(Of course I couldn’t please everyone. There were different reactions but I’ve gotten over it and no one is telling me anything negative about it. At first, however, there were some who were shocked.)
“Siguro after noon, nabasa na nila or something, and alam na nila na malinis ‘yung intensyon ko for the book and now marami akong natatanggap na maraming nainspire sa book, marami na one way or the other, natulungan sila ng libro,” he added.
(Perhaps after they read the book, they knew that my intentions were pure and I’ve been getting comments that many were inspired by the book, or were helped by the book, one way or the other.)
He said he was grateful for the support of his fans not only for his book but for all he had undertaken throughout his 15 years in the industry. /vvp
